Soldering Iron Stand.

I've been amusing myself this afternoon by making this:-

   

I claim no originality for the design, I saw it in an old Practical Television, but thought it may be of interest, especially to people who are only just starting out.

All it is is a bit of half inch water pipe hammered flat at the end and then screwed to a bit of floorboard.

Joe,
Could you cut a hole at a suitable place so that the bit isn't leaning on the copper?
As it is I suspect your iron is trying to heat the whole thing up.

I wondered about that too, Alan. Antex irons are hot all along so I can't see it making much odds. A wire spiral is better but not as easy to knock up. Most of the time my soldering iron is on it's in my hand anyway.
