Amplion 'Convette' battery eliminator (tiv48)

Rob - I'm intrigued by the Amplion 'Convette' battery eliminator, photos of which you have recently sent to the Gallery. I see one selenium rectifier, but the unit specifies two d.c. sources: HT and LT. So where's the other rectifier? And in the top left corner, I see what can only be a large wire-wound dropping resistor. What's that for? Do you have the cct. diag., please? If so, can you put it up here, please?

hi al. what looks like a big resistor is in fact the half wave ht rec ,the LT uses full wave rec and choke and cap smothing .the
HT only uses resistor and cap smothing. in use no hum is heard ,i will dig out diag and post it

Ah-Ha! Thank you, Rob. Yes, the thought did cross my mind that the selenium rectifier might be for LT, but I've never seen an HT rect. that looks like what you have there! Now I know what it is, I'll go back and have another look at it.

Yes, that's a selenium disc stack alright, sometimes over the years less tends to come out in relation to what goes in, I have a four arranged as a FW bridge in an old Eddystone PSU (now temp bridged with silicon) when I get time I will try and post a picture as I would not mind having the PSU type identified ie:type number.
