I must admit that I am finding this set much more challenging than I first thought as the wiring is breaking up as I'm touching it.

Many thanks for your words of encouragement and guidance. Its not the easiest of sets to get at components and I dont want to dismantle it too much. i suppose its just a case of getting on with it.

Rob: far be it from me to tell you things that you probably already know, but when I'm faced with a dismantling job that I can see will present a challenge at re-assembly, I usually make copious drawings, notes - and sometimes even take a few photographs. And then I file them for the next time: yes, there is always the 'next time'!
