The famous brand of oxygenating crystals in the UK is Vanish Oxy Action but I use the ones from PoundLand.

That will probably be 'Wizz Oxy' fabric stain remover then Joe. Works like a charm. I stripped the fabric from a Fenman1 to replace it, then thought I'd give it a whirl on Wizz. Came out a treat, so I fitted it back on with 'Stuk' fabric adhesive. (When I eventually finish the cabinet, it can all go back together!) You'll see from the pic, that not only was Wizz just one sov a tub, there was 30% extra. It even comes with a little measuring spoon in the pack.

It amazes me that the pound/99p shops, of which there are several, haven't been overtaken by inflation and the VAT hike to 20%. Obviously they rely on low margins/high turnover, but I'm incredulous that they can, for example, buy in scientific calculators from the other side of the world, ship them here, distribute them to all of their stores throughout the UK, sell them for £1.00 including 20% VAT, (so the net selling price is 83p, with 17p to the tax coffers), yet still turn a profit, and a good one to all accounts. (Without wishing to sound too haughty, I doubt that there's much call for scientific calculators in Hull, or dictionaries for that matter ).

There must surely come a point at which cost pressures will be such that brands such as PoundWorld and PoundLand may no longer be able to boast 'everything one pound'. There's no obligation for them to hold their prices to one pound, but it is implicit in the brand name. Even more of an issue for the 99p shops. Sure, 1p is just 1% off the price and may seem trivial, , but if they're operating on a net margin of 5% on turnover, 1p is a fifth of the net margin down the gurgler.

'Poundstretcher' don't have the same pressures as their claim is simply to make your pounds go further.

I'm still finding bits of Bakelite that keep appearing on the garage floor from time to time so I really do think that the case is beyond repair. It was my own stupid fault that it fell over in the first place. I'll keep for spares but I am on the look out for a replacement.
