Mayhem on AmRad 40 m. band

Indeed I'm well aware of all that but I stand by my earlier post.  A QSO between Leeds and Glasgow using a basic transmitter built with an EF91 and a few 6L6's and the receiver a home made regenerative , that's amateur radio to me. One from UK to Oz achieved by pressing the "on" button on some all singing all dancing packet-digital-multimode multi £K bought in transceiver controlled from a PC screen... Nah!  I spoke to a guy who said he'd had QSO's from a local cafe achieved by controlling his rig at home via a laptop in the cafe!  May as well give up and use a mobile phone.
