Legal CB and PMR446 are comparatively recent and pre-licensed by authorised gear. CB has some flexibility on aerials but not PMR446. You can modify an old CB rig to work on 10m band with a switch and a few diodes. Then a licenced Amateur can use it on 10m to transmit or receive, but only to receive on CB band as it's no longer an authorised CB.
Similarly you can have a single rig that in theory works on Aeronautical, Marine, Amateur, CB and PMR446, but can only legally be used to transmit on the Amateur bands by a licenced Amateur. Maybe there are some legal dual use / multiple use sets for transmit now, but I don't know of any. I do have a second hand Yaesu VX5R I have to be careful with because the previous owner had a giant yacht and somehow that 6m / 2m / 70cm set transmits on VHF Marine. I'd modify it back if I knew how!
Contesting is a speciality too.
I've no interest in many aspects of Amateur radio, but those aspects suit other people.
