Social Media, esp Facebook, is a gift to MLM, pyramid, Ponzi and scams.
There is not the need for new regulation, just to categorise them as "publishers" and not eligible for any kind of "safe harbor", an idea lobbied for by big USA Corporations. Yahoo providing "Geocities" I suppose was eligible as the individuals would have been liable.
Forums and Social media companies are simply Publishers.
