Nice job: it's always so satisfying to repair something yourself, with your own tools and own hands, rather than follow the now oh-so familiar custom of "I'll dump it and go and buy a new one". And with some of today's goods, it's sometimes the case that you can not only repair it - but also effect an improvement into the bargain. Which may well be the case in your repair.
Only today, when some unscheduled car repairs became necessary, I reached a certain point where, in a state of frustration and disbelief, I said to myself: "That is plain silly. They could have fitted that the other way around: would have made no functional difference at all. Then I could have easily dismantled it for maintenance. Needless to say, a modification soon followed.
But hold on there! What have I just said? Modern cars & owner-maintenance?
